I couldn’t help but grin at this title: Surprise — Cholesterol May Actually Pose Benefits, Study Shows. Uhh….surprise for whom?

Here are a few humorous quotes from the article, at least for those of us that are cholesterol skeptics.

it’s very possible that cholesterol may not be the mean Mr. Evil thing we tend to believe it is.

Wait! You mean to tell me that a substance your body naturally produces might have a valuable function in the body? I am Scott’s immense shock.

“We need further research in this area, but what we found could really make us look differently at cholesterol, especially as it relates to a vigorous workout.”

Don’t worry…I’m not holding my breath waiting for the mainstream to actually look differently at cholesterol.

If it’s true, as our findings suggest, that cholesterol may play a key role in muscle repair, we need to know exactly how that happens. And because cholesterol is negatively associated with cardiovascular health, we need further study in this area. It shows that there is still a lot about cholesterol that we don’t know.

Well isn’t that just a catch-22! Perhaps you should reexamine your take on cholesterol and cardiovascular health.

Anyway, Chris at Conditioning Research already beat me to a nice synopsis, so head over there for a great writeup.
