At Least Half Of Population Will Be Obese By 2032, Report Predicts

The report, ‘Tackling Obesities: Future Choices – Modelling future trends in obesity and their impact on health,’ published recently by Professor McPherson and Mr Tim Marsh (Associate Director of the National Heart Forum) shows that if current trends continue, at least half the population will be obese by 2032. In less than 15 years, 86 per cent of men will be overweight, and 70 per cent of women will reach the same level of obesity in 20 years time.

These are scary statistics, ones that have grand implications for the overall health of our nation and the cost of our healthcare. I’m sure the numbers are generous to make them scarier though, but it is obvious that despite our best efforts, our nation’s waistline continues to grow and grow. People are kept so confused about proper nutrition by our “health experts” and the media that they don’t know what to eat. Fat’s bad. Fat’s good, but saturated fats are bad. Meat is bad. Lean meat is good. Low carb is good. Low carb is bad. Ad nauseum. Here’s the newspaper formula: “What will sell this week?”

The best way to lose weight and keep it off (which is being proven by clinical trials) is a low-carb Paleo diet: meat, vegetables, plenty of fat from olive, coconut, and palm oils, nuts and seeds, and some fruit and starchy tubers and squashes if you are active. Grains, sugar, and trans fats have no place in your diet. It only makes sense to eat the foods that your body evolved to eat over millions of years, not foods that have been created in the last 100. As Jack Lalanne said, “If man made it, don’t eat it.”
