		<description>Hey Jennifer,
Since I keep my carb intake pretty low, I have to make up the calories with fat as the body can only handle so much protein. I find that keeping my fat intake very high with just enough carbs allows me to fuel my athletic endeavors without packing on any extra pounds. A high fat diet is protein sparing, which means that your muscles are less likely to be eaten by the body during fasts. I don't have a particular percentage that I strive for and until today I had no idea what my macronutrient breakdown was. I assumed about 50/30/20 fat/protein/carb...I was wrong! I put in what I planned to eat today, approximated, and it shot back 71% fat, 17% protein, 12% carbs. It may be a few percent lower as I don't really measure my oil usage, but it's probably no less than 65% fat. Does that answer your questions?

Cheers

		<description>Scott,

I've been reading through your posts, along with several others who talk about Paleo and IF. Can you help me understand why the higher fat intake? Is there a percentage that you strive for?

Thanks</description>
