Hey K,
Thanks for stopping by! I'm glad you enjoyed the post. I started experimenting with a shortened window about 2 years ago after some stuff Robb Wolf talked about, but hadn't dedicated totally to either it or totally clean eating. But man-oh-man, clean eating with IF/ad-lib eating has been absolutely awesome!

I really love when someone tells me "yeah, but I'm trying to add muscle and there's no way you can add muscle without eating 6 times per day." I'm like "Oh yeah? Well let me just tell you a story." Of course, it doesn't sit because as you said, people like eating.

And in fairness, IF isn't something that someone can just launch into. First, it's important to normalize blood sugar and clean up the diet so that fasting is easier. I consider IF to be the "last 5%" after one has a Paleo diet solidly dialed in. I'd rather see someone eat 95% Paleo 5 times per day than watch them eat Krispy Kreme's and other such junk on an IF protocol.

Cheers and keep up the good work with your fasting!
Scott

Hi Scott,

Rock on. You really excelled in your post in intermittent fasting (IF). I have been moving in that direction - an 18-20 hour fast with short eating window in the evening - for a couple of years, and committed to eating that way this spring. It is much less a weight issue for me - only a few pounds to lose to be really lean - and much more a way to the best health possible.

Like you, I love the light, clean, alert feeling I have with my fast. I see people eating all the time and can't even imagine eating so often any more. I have told a couple of people about this way of eating, but our society is so brainwashed that they have to eat several times a day that anything contrary to that is heresy. Personally I think most people **like** that they are "supposed" to eat several times a day - a handy, "expert" backed excuse to eat too much.

Your other posts are intersting, too. The one where you mentioned the sledgehammer workout made me smile. That's my workout! That plus pushups, squats, running about 3 times a week, and daily yoga make me feel great and keep my muscles strong and toned. Perhaps an odd combination of exercise for a woman, but it really suits me.

I enjoy your blog. Please keep up the informative postings. Happy fasting! :-)

K
